Although we have been on the island for a long time, we haven´t visited all the places. So, with Robinsons, we had a reason to take a few trips and show them what we’ve already seen too.

SkyCab and Skybridge

The main attractions of this island can´t be missed (the ride with the cable car and the Skybridge between the two peaks). Compared to December, there was a much smaller waiting queue and a more pleasant weather. I and Martin stayed at the bottom station in the Oriental Village, and our Robinsons rode by a cable car. It was like sending children to some attraction and hope that nothing would happen to them and they will be back. Then they visited the 3D Art Museum.

Seven Wells Waterfall

When you ride with the cable car to SkyBridge’s top station, you can see this magnificent waterfall on one side. And because we haven´t seen this bit of beauty, we had a plan for the next trip.
The waterfall is named after it consists of 7 natural pools at different elevations that flow along the second highest mountain of Mount Mat Cincang. The summit of the waterfall is 480 meters high and the path leads through the Mount Mat Cincang rainforest where you can see plenty of flora and fauna. Monkeys, caterpillars, birds, various leeches. Here, on his own skin, Dave knew what it is when a leech bites you. Beast! Overall, the waterfall is 91 meters high. Local people believe that water from the waterfall can cure many diseases.

Durian Perangin Waterfall

When we have this waterfall a short distance from the accommodation, it would be a shame if we didn´t visit this place. At the same time, the boys reminded the strong durian aroma. The waterfall is located on the northern slope of the highest mountain of the island – Gunung Raya.

Wat Koh Wanaram

A hidden Buddhist temple near the capital of Kuah. It was established in 2000 after the local Buddhist community won the blessing of the famous Thai monk Luang Por Khun. The landscaped garden is surrounded by rainforest and limestone hills. One of them has a huge marble statue of Kuan Yin. It was completed in 2014 and it is one of the most beautiful carvings of the goddess of mercy. It is shown in a cloak with branches on the right hand and a glass of water on the left side. The temple is home to three schools where you can learn about the three most important types of Buddhism, Theravada (Thai), Vajrayana (Himalayan) and Mahayana Buddhism (Chinese).

Trip in two with evening adventures

One day, the guys decided to go on a trip alone. Annie didn´t want to go and helped us in the garden. The boys decided to walk on foot to the nearby Lubuk Semilang Waterfall. We didn´t have a problem with their decision, we just warned them that it was around 3:00 PM and the sunset comes fast so they would not get lost. The answer was that we shouldn´t be afraid. So they left. We worked the rest of the afternoon in the garden, and around 8:30 we agreed that we will have dinner at the restaurant because nobody wanted to cook. Around 8 PM we ordered a dinner and started discussing where the guys are because it was late. In after a few minutes, Annie got a message: What are you doing? And then we found out found out that the guys (after the waterfalls) went to the highest mountain of the island – Gunung Raya. Google maps show them around 3 hours of the way back but they are hungry, thirsty and tired. They sent us a map with a location indicator (somewhere in the middle of the green wasteland). And about 12% of the flashlight on the phone. They asked if we will pick up them by car.

So after dinner, we had a “rescue action”. It was interesting for us too. We arrived at a site with several warning signs for cars and at the same time, we hadn´t a much petrol. Fortunately, we found the boys and everything was fine. At one point, I wanted to punish them down (until I remembered for some situations with my parents when they had the same idea), but in the end, I was especially glad they were both ok 🙂

Otherwise, the stay was peaceful, in a friendly atmosphere and occasionally also in a multicultural style. At times, Italy, the USA, India, Syria, Arabia, Malaysia, Thailand, China, the Czech Republic, etc., … gastronomy from all the world 🙂

A little pearl at the end of the stay

At the end of the stay, we had a tour of the iCare clinic. When our Robinsons returned from Koh Lipe, we were surprised. Martin limped. One leg was incredibly swollen from the infected wound from his flip-flops. And on the second leg, we noticed some wound around the ankle (we just could not figure out from what). I did the first aid in our conditions, but I wanted to go to a more professional person. At the clinic, the doctor told us that the wounds are infected. I also knew …. and the doctor only prescribed some medication for swelling and ATB ointment. I had the wide-spectrum ATB and pain medication in our accommodation. I thought the doctor will check wounds because there was pus in both of them but did nothing. So I checked and cleaned them myself with small scissors, tweezer, a stitching needle, sterile squares, and peroxide. Maybe if anyone saw me, he would catch his head and couldn´t see it…”Home conditions in Asia”. In the end, Martin endured this small operation and wounds started to get better, which was the most important thing.

Martin, Dave, and Annie continued from the island with our recommendation to Singapore and then to Kuala Lumpur, from where they returned to Bohemia. According to their words, it was an unforgettable vacation, so we hope to do something abroad again!
