Václav Havel Airport in Prague and another farewells

We didn’t even blink and half a year run away as water and the date for our next adventure was here! We always try to see as many of their loved ones as possible, whether they are family, friends or work colleagues. It may seem surprising to some people, but it was far worse than when we the first departure. I was sad when I was leaving from work too. When you’re happy at work and have a great team of people around you, you don´t want to leave. The same case is a Kofi-people group – Martin had the same feeling.

We departed from Vaclav Havel Airport at 9:35 pm and despite the late departure time, I was very happy that both families came to say goodbye to us. Of course, there were tears (despite the fact that both mothers promised us that they will not cry), but it´s a part of farewells. And because we had time on the plane before taking off, we tried a video call. And what we don’t see… .the whole family in the restaurant for dinner – and without us! The sadness was away 🙂 But no! It was a joke. We starved on the plane too. Good thing for us was that we got a little bit of sweetness from home. At the airport, we drank only non-alcoholic Bohemian beverage for a lucky flight.

Anyway, the flight to Dubai was calm, without turbulence, with an excellent dinner and a great film library. I couldn’t resist the movie A star is born (a romantic classic), Martin preferred Johnny English Strikes Again. Then we even fell asleep for a few hours.

Transfer in Dubai

We arrived in Dubai before 6 am local time (2 hours less in the Czech Republic) on B26. The connection to Auckland was at Gate B29, so we found it in a moment and didn’t have to move anywhere. We used Airport Free Wifi for sending a message to our families, that we are fine. We went through part of the airport and found a great park. In the Czech Republic in the park, you will find the most homeless. In Dubai International Airport, there was a lot of people who didn´t have a problem to lay down on the floor in a park. We were among them. Our boarding time was at 9:20 am and it was only before 7 am. So we set the alarm clocks and slept on the floor in the middle of the airport. After sleeping, I did yoga : D

Martin woke up at 9 am and we decided to move to Gate 29. I was hoping to connect Wifi again because it worked great there. As soon as we arrived, something was wrong. The gate was empty, nobody anywhere. We went to check flights and what do you think? Our Gate has changed to Gate C11. Great! Although we had the time we went faster because we didn´t know whether we would have to go to the other Gate by subway. We were lucky, but to make it clear to you, the gate B29 was at the end of one side of the terminal and we had to go to the other side and that it wasn’t a small airport… But no drama was happening. The gate was crowded and there was a special scanner control.

After boarding the plane, we had a delay because the departure was scheduled at 10:05 and we didn’t leave at 10:25. Later, the pilot apologized for the delay, but that it was necessary to refuel and it would take a little longer. After this announcement, I was just saying that I don’t care how long the delay will last, but please refuel the plane a lot : D It is the longest flight from Dubai!

From Dubai to Auckland (16-hour flight)

A lot of people can´t imagine 16-hour flight and they would never travel by plane for so long. I was afraid, too, but I was reassuring myself that people normally work for eight hours and sometimes much longer. This can be followed by 8 hours of sleep. A big plus was when the steward gave us a bag where we had an eye strap, earplugs, warm socks, information stickers, and a toothbrush with a paste.

We managed the flight well in the end. We walked three times in the aisle on the plane, we saw a mom with 1-year-old baby for a while, as they managed it and I must say that overall our flight was calm. During the flight, we got 3 meals (lunch, pizza as a snack and breakfast).

I managed to write two articles and edit some photos and videos on my PC. Of course, there was also a film library. This time Martin chose Aquaman and I chose Five Feet Apart (another movie I had on the list, as always romantic sad movie) …… and I can admit with a calm heart that I really cried! (tip for those of you who would be in the mood to watch something like this)

Before landing, we had to fill the arrival card too, which is another activity you take a little time on the plane. 🙂
